Yes, the giant brand Lego started as a small wooden toy manufacturing company. In 1932, during the Great Depression, demand for furniture had collapsed, and very few people were buying it.

So, Ole Kirk Kristiansen took a bold leap and began manufacturing wooden toys, yo-yos, ducks on wheels, and other playthings.
